The SR engine is a 1.6 L, 1.8 L, or 2.0 L straight-4 4-stroke internal combustion gasoline engine manufactured by Nissan. It features an aluminum head and aluminum block with steel sleeves in selected models, the average JDM engines are cast iron blocks and steel-aluminum alloy heads, this type of block was sometimes used to save manufacturing costs on lower trim cars. DOHC 4-valve design, with some versions incorporating variable valve timing. The engine was used in many small to medium Nissan vehicles, including high-performance turbocharged variants.
